winemistress45 Posted September 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2007 I assume this is a buffet? anyone know? maybe this is a good day to dine onboard? I don't do buffets at all -- so wonder what dining options I have for this day for lunch. Thanks!
bruce-r Posted September 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Yep, it is a buffet. Unless you rent one of the 15 cabanas and opt for the butler package with the included lunch, I think the buffet is your only option on the island.
eh2zed Posted September 8, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Yes, only the buffet on HMC. Its a beach day after all. Not sure if the Dining Room is open when at HMC. Never been on board for lunch.
winemistress45 Posted September 8, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted September 8, 2007 I tried to get the cabana with butler and I'm wait listed-- even without the butler there are trays of fruit and veggies that are certainly plenty for me to nibble on -- but we'll see if we actually get one of the cabanas --- I know when I was on another cruise and was ill and didn't go to the private island that the dining room was definitely open for lunch. There are many people who don't leave the ship for whatever their reasons are...perhaps it will be the same on this cruise too!
fun2travel Posted September 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2007 The cabana sounds nice. How do you get one on CoCo Cay?
floridafunlady Posted September 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2007 hmc is not the same as coco key they are run by different cruise lines, from what i remember on coco key they do not have cabanas. I havent been to hmc yet, but it sounds way better with lots more things to do.

candbgirl Posted September 23, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I didn't get off at HMC in April and only the Lido was open for lunch. The Dining Room was not open. In fact I don't think the dining room was open on any Port Days.
m steve Posted October 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2007 I think every cruise line has the same menu for the private island. Grilled chicken, ribs, salads and cake and ice cream. None will knock your socks off. If you have enough rum punch or pina coladas it won't matter.

goofycruiser Posted February 14, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 14, 2008 The BBQ lunch served on HMC was amazing!! There were several lines set up so you didn't have to wait long. They had hot dogs, hamburgers, jerk chicken and various salads [non mayo because it is so hot]. Fresh fruit, cookies and brownies were also available along with iced tea, fruit punch and water. It was in a shaded picnic pavilion. I was just there last month so I remember it well. It was so nice not to have to go back to the ship for lunch. Previous posters are right, no dining room lunch on port days. So it would be buffet either on the ship or on the island. I vote for the island!!
