jwhitlow Posted September 8, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Does anybody know if Thrifty Rental offers GPS systems in their cars that are pre-programmed with good locations to visit? I know a few others do, hoperfully Thrifty does also...
donaldsc Posted September 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Why don't you call Thrifty and ask them. Seems as if they should know what they have available. DON
jwhitlow Posted September 8, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 8, 2007 If you have ever dealt with rental car personnel you would know that they aren't always as knowledgeable as you think they are. I just thought first hand experience would be more valuable.....

Call Thrifty directly at the city that you will be picking up the car.
jwhitlow Posted September 8, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Ok oK, I'll do that. But the first time I get "the run around", I'm going to come back and tell you, I told you so.
jwhitlow Posted September 8, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted September 8, 2007 I talked with several Thrifty rental places, one in Honolulu, Maui and Kauai and just as I thought, two-thirds didn't know what a GPS was and the other third didn't know whether they had them for rental while using their cars. But it my fault for letting somebody talk me in to doing something I know wouldn't not work. Since nobody can or wants to answer the question, I'll wait til I get there and find out for myself. "Call Thrifty and ask them", oh! that's a good one.

"Call Thrifty and ask them", oh! that's a good one. I'm sorry your time on the phone was wasted. :( I haven't replied because I didn't know the answer -- I know Alamo had them available in Honolulu when we rented with them, but I simply can't recall whether Thrifty had them on the BI or Kauai (our other two rental stops, where we did use Thrifty). Because you sound quite frustrated, I took the time to do a search here on the Hawaii board for "thrifty rental GPS" in the last six months and came up with several posts reporting using GPS in Thrifty cars on various islands: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=602511&highlight=thrifty+rental+GPS http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=568053&highlight=thrifty+rental+GPS http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=600281&highlight=thrifty+rental+GPS http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=557382&highlight=thrifty+rental+GPS http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=527661&highlight=thrifty+rental+GPS I hope you find these of some help. jwhitlow Posted September 8, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Thank you, thank you, thank you MichellP - You are truly a GEM. I suppose if I wasn't so lazy and frustrated I could have done a search. You have restored my faith in the CC Bulletin Board. Thanks again.
