My daughter is going to be in the San Diego area to visit her boyfriend at Camp Pendleton. Can anyone suggest a hotel that would be good for her; close to the base and clean? Thnnks!

Close to the base would be Oceanside, which is quite a ways north of San Diego... about 40 miles. I'm not familiar with the hotels there, but she might try an internet search for the standard chains.

Actually, it depends on which side of base he's on. Part of base is closer to Oceanside, but if he's on the North side of base, like at Horno, then San Clemente is much closer! My ex-boyfriend was at Pendleton and I always enjoyed San Clemente much more than Oceanside. Much cuter of a town and much safer. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn there and it was not that pricey and it was in a good location.

An alternative is Vista, just outside the back gate of Pendleton. There's a HolidayInnExpress on Rte 78 with reasonable rates, approximately 10 minutes from the back gate.

Thank you for your suggestions. He's located more on the south side of the base, so we'll check into Vista.
