Swissfred Posted September 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2007 I have a wooden placard in the shape of a shield that has a brass or copper hot water faucet attached to it. The inlet and outlet are both threaded. The top of the faucet has a red inlay with the lettter "H". Below the faucet is an engraved sign that says " The R.M.S. Queen Mary". This was given to me about 20 years ago. The wooden placard is obviously home-made, so I don't know if it's real. Does anyone know how I can authenticate this? This was given to me by a friend of my parents. The reason I am asking is that my Dad travelled from Europe to North America on the Homeland in 1953, returned to Europe on the Queen Mary in 1957, then returned to the States on Queen Elizabeth in 1958 with my Mother. Thanks for your help, Fred
Nanatravel Posted September 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Fred, I am visiting the Queen Mary 2 tomorrow in Boston. I will try to find out what that shield represents. Bon Voyage
Nanatravel Posted October 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2007 Sorry Fred, no sign of an answer on the QM2. The only signs even remotely similar were for the fire extinguisers, but those certainly where not mounted on a placque. Have you posted this question on the Cunard forum? ron46936 Posted February 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2008 The original Queen Mary is still docked at Long Beach and is open as a hotel and museum. It is a fantastic ship to visit. They have a website http://www.queenmary.com Try contacting them thru that link. Another possibility is a collectible shop they have on board. their site is http://www.pastimescollectibles.net Good Luck Ron
