Just back from Carnival Sensation 9/23 Bahamas cruise

We just got back from our first cruise to the Bahamas on the Sensation. We had the best time ever and can't wait to go on another (longer) cruise.

 

Something that made me wonder though were the railings on the ship. We don't have any kids yet but if we did I would have been very nervous to take them on the ship. I was surprised by how big the space was between the bars and how there wasn't any plexiglass that would prevent a child from climbing/falling through the railing straight into the ocean. Even a child that was careful could lose their balance on a rough day at sea. This seemed very dangerous to me and I was just wondering what others thought.

I'm going on the Sensation for my first cruise in about a month. I'll be interested in seeing the railings. I'm not taking my daughter this time, but there was a time when I went to a hotel when my son was younger and the railings on the balcony had huge gaps between the bars. I want to say he was 2 or 3. My dad took him out on the balcony without really realizing how big the gaps were and my son almost fell. My dad felt horrible but it had been years since he had a small child and didn't remember how fast they can be!!

 

I was totally mortified. I'm glad you noticed this and you are giving a heads up to other parents. Maybe you want to post something on the family boards? :)
