This is my first guaranty cruise. Should I ask at check in if there is availability for an upgrade? Or would they automatically give me one if there is space for an upgrade?

Typically, GTY upgrades are within category inside GTY to better inside, balcony GTY to better balcony, etc. but you might get lucky and go from inside to outside or balcony - it happens occasionally.

 

Any upgrade you ask for at check-in will likely involve additional charges, but it might also be a good deal if you're interested in paying a little more.

 

If you are, after you check in and get your assigned cabin ask for the pier coordinator's desk. They're the ones to check with about upgrades.
