Ybor City vs Rocky Point

Which area would you suggest, Ybor City or Rocky Point? There will be about 15(8 adults and 7 kids(age range 10 to 21) out of a group of 32(all family) that will be arriving the day before our cruise(12/23). Some of us have Marriott Points and others have Priority Club(Holiday Inn) points. We would like to stay in a safe and fun area.

if they had rewards rooms open i would stay at the marriott waterside.....great hotel...very nice staff...and you could take the street car up to ybor city......not sure what sort of holiday inn brands are around though....

We were in Tampa two weeks ago and if it were us we would stay at Rocky Point. The view is amazing from the Rocky Point location and you are still close enough to Channelside that you can get there on most days within 20 minutes. It is just our opinion but we did not feel comfortable in Ybor and we would have really not felt comfortable in Ybor at night.
