ejhall Posted June 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2004 I was wondering if there is a way to get walking tour maps for Ketchikan, Juneau and Sitka before going on the cruise? Any websites or phone numbers would be appreciated! Celebrity Infinity 9/5/04 (I can't wait! Woohoo!) Celebrity Mercury 6/12/
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2004 Maps As a rule you can get maps of each port area right as you get off the ship. All the ports you listed - we have never used a map and have toured them extensively on foot. We have been to Alaska several times. You can also contact the Chamber of Commerce - via web - and ask to have maps sent to your home address.
joe_cruiser Posted June 20, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2004 I purchased a book last year from Amazon called Inside Passage Walking Tours for about $10. It covered Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau and Sitka. I used it all towns except Skagway, which was not a port we visited. It was a great way to see the towns. Frommer's also includes some walking tours, but not as extensive as the other. You may be able to glean some of the Frommer's info from their website. 09/95: Carnival, Fantasy: Eastern Caribbean 11/01: Silversea, Silver Shadow: Singapore to Sydney 12/02: Carnival, Elation: Western Caribbean 05/03: Holland America, Veendam: Alaska 07/04: Silversea, Silver Shadow: Alaska

New Cruiser1 Posted June 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2004 We also purchased the "Walking Tour" book. It was a good reference, as long as you started at point 1 and went on. If you tried to pick and choose it got very confusing. The prices listed for those attractiond requiring paid admittance were way off! l7thtee Posted June 21, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Both books have been extremely helpful to us in planning a Southbound on the Spirit 8/4.
