Which beach should we try next?

We are looking at a cruise that stops in St. Maarten. This would be our 4th time at this port. On our first stop we did a tour that included shopping and Orient beach. On our 2nd stop we went directly to Orient. And finally on our last stop we went to Divi Little Bay.

We liked both beaches. Divi was quieter, and the view wasn't as nice, but we expected that. Both of these beaches have the things we look for in a beach, changing facilities, bathrooms, food/drinks, chairs/umbrellas, calmer seas, maybe a little shopping (roadside stand kind of stuff), and not too far from the pier.

We would like to try a new beach when we go back. Based on those amenities, which beach would you reccomend? Any feed back is appreciated!

We have been to St Martin twice and both times went to orient beach. We will be there again in March and wondering if we should try a different beach. Did you like little Divi bay? I also want to go to Rimas to do a little shopping.

Yes, we liked it quite a bit. It wasn't crowded at all, the beach is nice, water was great. They have a little mini-grocery store on the resort property. We bought some snacks and beers there. There is also a bar, and I'm sure they serve food too. We weren't pestered by vendors, had a couple come by but they were very polite and friendly. Clean, large bathrooms/changing rooms. Grounds are very pretty. It is much quieter and smaller than Orient. It is close to the port, can't remember how much the cab was. We also spent time shopping afterward along the boardwalk, then jumped on the water taxi back to the ship.

Hope that helps!

You should try Baie Rouge for next time. It has a bar with great fresh fruit drinks and chairs for rent.

In regards to the different beaches, maybe you should try grandcase, it's little village on the French side with a very nice beach, calm waters. There's a beach bar called Calmos, it's right on the beach, the chairs and unbrellas are free, if you drink ofcourse.

You can have a drink and change at this location or walk down the beach to the lolos, these are little local restaurants serving all type of local dishes including ribs, lobster conch ect. In the village, there serveral little stores, just remember the French sometimes take a siesta around noon.

Also Mulletbay beach is one of St.Maarten's best. There are two local stands serving BBQ, chips and drinks. There's a charge for the chairs and umbrellas- no changing facilities.

Oysterbay is also nice at Mr B's. She serves burgers, hotdogs, ribs. Chair and umbrella available, it's also relativley close to the port.

Thanks! That really gives me a lot of options to explore. Much appreciated!

We will be in St Maarten Dec 26th aboard the Carnival Glory, our first trip to the island. We're also looking for a very nice beach with some amenities for food/drinks/restrooms, but not overly crowded. We found this link which lists several different beaches on both sides.

http://www.st-maarten-info.com/St-Maarten-Beaches/stmaarten_Beaches.html

We dock at Phillipsburg. We're trying to decide between doing an island tour/beach trip combo excursion to an unnamed beach or just do our own trip to a beach and skip the island tour.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated! The day before we'll be doing a catamaran/snorkel excursion to Honeymoon Beach in St Thomas but probably won't get in alot of actual lounging on the beach time, since we'll be there mostly to snorkel.
