Carnival Legend or RCI Voyager of the Seas

Hi folks,

I am planning a cruise with my 15-yo son next summer and have narrowed it down to 2 choices - Carnival Legend 8 days East Carribean on June 30 or RCI Voyager of Seas 9 days West Carribean on Jul 1. It will be a first cruise for both of us.

Would appreciate any thoughts that would help me choose. Specifically

  • Which ship would my 15 yo enjoy better
  • Eastern vs Western Carribean in late June/early July
  • size of rooms, service, food, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What kinds of activities does Mike [i assume!] like? Don't know exactly what the ports are for the Eastern Legend, but in general, the Eastern is often more compatible with shoppers [although in St. Thomas/St. John there's good snorkeling or scuba too]. The Western has a more "adventurous" bent - there's river tubing or zip-lining in the jungle in Ocho Rios, the stingrays and snorkeling in Cayman, and snorkeling, "jungle tours", and beaches with lots of "toys" in Cozumel. We've had our son on cruises when he was about that age and he had a good time, moreso on the Western than the Eastern. He always managed to find a group of kids to hang out with.

You'll have a good time no matter which you do, I'm sure. But BEWARE - cruising can be habit-forming!!

I also see the Voyagr is going to be doing 5 night bermuda next year.

Bermuda gets its first megaship. Royal Caribbean will deploy Voyager of the Seas next summer to Bermuda, which has long been notoriously diffident about welcoming larger cruise vessels.

or 9 nights doing the Ports of Call: Labadee, Hispaniola; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Grand Bahama Island;

Thats my choice with a 15 year old. THe western side is a lot more busier for him. (and for you too)
