Portofino experience on the Navigator

Yes -- there is only one seating. The first half hour is wine tasting with great Italian cheese and meats to accompany the wine. There is a "set" menu -- Italian singing while you dine. Sometimes there is "audience participation". . . I found the food to be good -- especially the risotto that they bring out in a huge bowl and do a big presentation.

Passengers tend to love or hate Portofino (the same as Latitudes on the Voyager and Mariner). If you go just for the fun and entertainment (difficult to have conversations with your tablemates), it should be fine. We are in the group that do not care for it. (Love Latitudes -- all just a matter of preference):)

On the December 14th cruise, we had 16 in our group at 3 tables. Several participated with tamborines, wandering around the tables and dancing around with the staff. That part was short. We were entertained with Sinatra songs. There was a multi course dinner with 3 entree selections, and they also accomodated vegetarian on request. We had a good time, but I would not want to go more than once per cruise if the menu did not change.
