First time cruisers need help with excursions

In March my adult children are going on their first cruise on the Jewel .

 

They have selected the following through RCL and since I haven't done any of them, I hoping for some help.

 

Playa De Carmen Xel Ha Park Snorkelers Paradisd 5 hrs. 45 mn $72

Beleze Bottom Fishing 4hrs. $98.

 

Funds are limited so any advise would be greatly appreciated. Some sort of fishing excursion seems to be a must. Thanks in advance. Mimi

Since they are 1st timers, going throught the ship to book excursions seems prudent. The fishing sounds reasonable, but the snorkling seems high, to me, for 45 mins! Perhaps another port might offer something either cheaper, or a place where they could snorkle on their own, without an excursion!
