How Close to Sailing have you ever gotten a cabin assignment?

I did a guarantee (1A--for two people) booking last JUNE. I'm pretty sure 1As are full up with singles. It's now 15 days pre-cruise, and still no cabin assignment. At this point, is there still a possibility I might get this cabin before I sail, or am I getting a surprise at the pier? Experiences, all?

I've gotten assignments within a few days of boarding...and I've also been surprised at embarkation

Long ago when we used to book guarantee cabins, only once did we not have a cabin assignment until we got to the ship, all the other times we had our assignment before Docs were mailed.

We also booked an IS GTY and got our room assignment about 30 days out. I just kept looking in "my documents" everyday.;)

We just got our room assignments and we booked an OV guarantee; we were about 52 days out when we found the assignment; we kept checking everyday!

I booked the same guarantee, and only found out once we got to the ship.

by some miracle, we were upgraded to a room with a huge window!

We are 80+ days out. My question is when we get an assignment and decide to purchase "gifts" for the room, can they still change it? Will they just move with us if it gets changed???
