Lorabele Posted September 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2004 We're trying RCCL in Feb after only having been on one cruise, with Celebrity. On our 11-night cruise, there was only one in-cabin announcement, the entire cruise, and that was just fine with us. Now I'm wondering about RCCL. Are there in-cabin announcements? If so, how often? Can you adjust the sound or turn it off? Thanks.
Honey's Gal Posted September 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2004 There can be many, depending on the events. You can turn down the volume for all but important announcements, say from the Captain or for the muster. My husband takes naps in the afternoon and we turn the volume off. This works for most announcements.
kitty1 Posted September 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2004 We couldn't figure out how to turn the volume up.... We had to open the door to hear what they were saying. We turned the vol knob both ways and it didn't work. Only announcements we heard where the muster drill and the captain.
39august Posted September 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2004 Our last 2 RCI cruises, both in the past 6 months, only the captain's announcements and muster drill info came into the cabin.
SPGryphon Posted September 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2004 There is a volume control knob on or near the desk in the stateroom. How reliable they are is questionable. You can controll the general broadcasts volume level but it will not "turn off" the broadcast. In most cases, important announcements bypass this controll and come into the cabin. cakeone Posted September 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 15, 2004 The first point I made in the 'comment card' at the end of our cruise, was that the announcement control in our cabin, as well as more than a dozen other folks we spoke with, simply did not work. Normally this would not have been much concern at all; but we were sailing along with an unfriendly Hurricane Francis, and relevant announcements were made frequently, and were obviously very important to hear. The hangin-out-yer-head tactic was something we did quite a bit!
