St Maarten,???? and afer dark

Hello,

We are in St. Maarten from 3pm-11:30PM. On the RCI Explorer. End of March

What could we do with this time schedule? I would like to visit Orient Beach. I think Orient Beach will be too far for us to get to with this time schedule. If it wasn't that's what we would do.

Maybe we could go to Maho Beach to see the planes and or Divi Beach. How long does it take to get to either of these from the cruise ship?

What time will it get dark the end of March?

Will we have time for a beach stop? Then what could we do?

What is there to do in St. maarten after dark?

Any suggestions? We are not big shoppers so we have no interest in doing that.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sunset in late March is about 6:30p (local time).

With your very late arrival I would probably just go up to Maho for a combination beach time and big jet landing/takeoffs. The highlight will be the departure of the Air France Airbus which occurs at about 4:55pm. Don't miss that one.

Afterwards take in the incredibly good food. St. Maarten is the Gourmet Capital of the Caribbean so your choices are almost unlimited especially given the late departure. Go to Grand Case the the best selection.

I am not sure as to the day that you will be in St. Martin but while researching for an upcoming vacation I found a sunset cruise that sounds nice. It is on the Calypso out of Pelican Marina. It travels through the Lagoon and to Marigot where they stop for dinner at a restaurant in the Marina area. The meal is included and a glass of wine also. You sail back through the lagoon and arrive at the Pelican Marina at 8:30 or so. I think that it is on a Tuesday and the cost is $60.-$65.00 depending on the website you use. I looked into the restaurant and by all accounts it is a good place to dine. There are other dinner cruises where you eat on the boat but I liked the idea of a sunset cruise and a nice relaxing meal at a restaurant.

What am I missing here. I keep reading about people wanting to watch planes land. I guess that's pretty exciting :p , but why would anyone want to do that on vacation:confused: .

Because the planes literally fly about eight feet above your head. Do a board search, or an internet search of Maho. The photos are pretty spectacular.

Thanks judyf for asking the same questions we had in mind. We are going to have our 8 1/2 and 4 3/4 yr old boys on the trip and we think it would be cool for them to see a taste of France and/or The Netherlands. We are thinking of going to Marigot for a walkabout and a meal.

Cheers

Thanks for the responses.

Yeah were else will you ever be on a beach and see the planes land that close? Casino sounds like a good way to spend some evening hours?

I need to search what Marigot is, sounds like a boardwalk type area?
