MICHE99 Posted February 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2008 Can anyone tell me if it is possible to check your luggage at the ship and then go into San Juan for the day? Our return flight does not leave until 8pm.
Lsimon Posted February 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Possibly. Celebrity has a program with certain airlines that lets you get your boarding pass on the ship and check your luggage at the cruise terminal. It costs $20/PP. We signed up for this last year but were denied for some reason. We got a notice in our stateroom saying that it was due to airport security which has to approve the program participants and denies a certain percentage of people on a random basis. But we've done this at other ports and it helps a lot. If you look in the San Juan port of call thread there are a couple places in Old San Juan listed where you can check your luggage. I think one is a t a bar/restuarant called Barachinas. There are also some excursions you can take which let you take your luggage on the tour bus and they drop you off at the airport at the end. Another suggestion: if noen of the above work call the airline and ask what time you can check your luggage, might make sense to go to the airport and check in - if they'll let you that far ahead of your flight. If so it would probably be worth the extra $25 or so in cab fares. In Fort Lauderdale we've rented a car and just taken our luggage around with us, but I'm not sure what the parking situation is in San Juan nor if you need to worry about luggage left in a parked rental car there.
