Shopping - Havensight or Charlotte?

We will be on Carnival Destiny and I think that our ship will dock at Havensight. We are not big shoppers, just want to spend 2 hours between 2:00-4:00 pm to visit interesting shops. We are a group of 5 ladies and 4 teen. girls plus DHs if they want to tack along. Is Charlotte Amallie walkable from the dock? What are the differences between the two areas?

Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

Hi MTV: It's really a big walk to downtown. There are plenty of jitneys that will take you to the shopping area for around $4 or $5 each way, but worth it. The selection downtown is much larger but the big stores all have branches at Havensight. If you're not into shopping, Havensight is fine. You can then spend the balance of the day at the beach or sightseeing. Actually, I'd do the sightseeing & beach first & then the shopping. That way you are near the ship & don't have to worry about traffic getting back to the ship. Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me what time the shops open in Charlotte Amallie? Is there a Del-Sol there?

Shops open around 9:00 or so. Unless it has closed there is a Del Sol in CA. It is on the main street near the end, opposite from where you enter town from Havensight.

We were in St. Thomas 1/22. Havensight has changed so much!!! They have built a yacht club there and condos. Most stores looked to be upsale

Coach, BeBe's. They still have a few smaller stores. Depending on what you are looking for, Charlotte Amalie has the better shopping area. It is a long walk from Havensight to Charlotte Amalie maybe 15 to 20 mins.

A few years ago there was a "flea market" se up down town..Is it still there???

We got great buys on "tourist" t-shirts for kids and some really nice beach towels. The also had the usual knock off bags, cheap jewerly etc.

thanks
