Saga Ruby Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2008 When Prinsendam arrives in Kusadasi next year, I intend to leave the ship overnight to enjoy a private tour in the area, particularly in Izmir to watch the manufacture of those beautiful tiles. A year ago, I used a private tour guide in Istanbul who is excellent. He is suggesting a brief tour of Efes (Ephesus), a picnic in Dilek National Park, staying in Izmir overnight to view the tiles being made, then flying on to Istanbul to rejoin the ship. This itinerary works for me as I am burned out from viewing ruins all over the world - Incas, Aztecs, Pictish, Norse, Viking, Roman, Greek, Egyptian, and Turk. My interests in Turkey are local culture, food, people, or stopping at an interesting place on impulse. If anyone has information about Izmir or the Turkish cities of Sinop and Trabzon, or Sevastopol in Ukraine, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. jeanlyon Posted February 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Yep, I'm sick of ruins as well. Would rather just wander around Kusadasi on my own. Have been there before, but we are using Viator for our tour of Istanbul.
