Key West-Clearing Customs on the Ship

Recommended Posts

Actually, it's US Immigration that you must clear, not customs. It's usually quick and painless, esp if you are a US citizen. You just take your Sea Pass and proof of citizenship to the designated place, (often the dining room). There will be a long line snaking around, but don't be intimidated because it moves very fast and you'll be finished in 10-15 minutes. The Immigration officier will put a notation on your sea pass to indicate that you have been cleared.

Expect to be called by deck number and find out that no one abides by it. We were in the first group called, went immediately as called, and ended up at the back of the line since we didn't go early. Our line was VERY slow moving. But...it saved going through immigration back in Fort Lauderdale making it extra fast and easy to get off the ship at the end of the cruise.
