We're doing the Pacific Northwest 4 night cruise on the Mercury in October. Is there a formal night on this cruise?

Hi, yes there is:) I took this 4 nighter followed by a 3 nighter

this past October and there was one formal night.

I might be joining you this year too.

Which night of the 4 nights was the formal?

I'm trying to get my inlaws to go for their first cruise but they are afraid of getting seasick. I told them this cruise should be very calm. How was it for you in October?

I am booked into a Sky Suite on the September 22nd 2008 4-nighter. Pick that one! It would be great to meet you. :)

I am booked with my husband at the moment, but now he's telling me that he will probably have to bail due to business, so I'm going to have to find a friend to bring along...I have a terrific cabin with one of the large decks, and I'd hate to give it up.

I was on one of the 3-night Mercury PNW cruises last fall, and find that the prices this year are a little high. How far ahead did you book last year for the Mercury PNW cruises, and did you find that the price came down? I know the short PNW cruises were really popular last fall, and I'm wondering if they think they can charge more this year. I am also booked on the 3-day on the Millennium out of Vancouver, and was hoping to travel with my daughters, but at the moment a Sky Suite is going for $999 per person, which is just too high for a 3 night cruise.

I was on a 3-night PNW cruise on the Mercury late last October and the trip was very smooth, as we were in reasonably sheltered waters most of the time. However, I understand from many posts that there was a quite a bit of rockiness on the 4-night cruises (on the sea day). There was a bit of unhappiness, as I think at least one 4-night cruise ran into a storm on the sea day. I understand that on the sea day, the Mercury was venturing further out into open water, which can be iffy in the later fall, especially later in the season.

Having said that, I am also booked on a 4-nighter out of Seattle this year, and will have all my seasickness meds and wrist bands with me (I'm not a really good sailor in rough weather). If we get some "weather" I will just stay in my bed and catch up on my sleep until its over!

Hi,:) I will be honest with you. I truely cannot recall which

day it was or if it was on the 4 nighter or the 3 nighter but

there was one day that was quite rocky.

I never got sick but many people did. I wish I could remember

what happened but it seemed the ship had go to into a certain

area of waters between Canada and Washington and that

area is rough.

My experience was this.....I sat in Cova Cafe and hot tea for

quite a while and visited with the bartenders. But I remember

when the sailing got smoother everyone on the ship was relieved.

It was only that one day and as I said, I really can't recall if

it was on my 4 or 3 nighter.

Maybe someone else who remembers can give you a better

explanation of why this happened.

I know its probably not want you want to hear but I want

to be honest with you.

Hi, thanks for your input. Maybe it was my 4 nighter too.

I can't remember. But I overall had a wonderful time and Mercury

is my favorite ship:)

As for sailing on Sept 22nd, wish I could but its not possible

as I am sailing earlier in the month with friends on a short one

out of Port Canaveral.

But thank you for the invitation. Any way you could go in

October?;)

Hi,

We were on the first-of-the-season Mercury 3-night cruise this past September. LOVED IT!

On that particular 3-nighter there was no designated formal night. The middle evening attire was informal, but it was probably the most formal informal night I've ever seen on a cruise. Many of the passengers wore very elegant informal and a good percentage even went formal.

Here's a selection of Mercury PNW photo links for you, too:
