Island Tour & Paradise Beach

HELP!!! Our cruise begins Sunday & I can't decide what to do in Cozumel. I'm back & forth about renting a car or getting a cab. I want to do a tour around the island, then end up at Paradise Beach. My thinking now is get a cab to see the island, have an early lunch at Coconuts, then have the cab drop us off at PB. From what I've read, it's easy to get a cab at PB to take us back to the ship.

 

For you experts, would this be easier/cheaper/faster than renting a car? Also, how long does it take to drive the island?

I think the big thing to consider is if you plan on drinking while you are on the East side. Unless you have a designated driver, a taxi would probably be the better choice, IMO. A taxi by the hour would be easier, faster than renting a car, but probably not cheaper.

Thanks for the response. How much difference in price do you think? Also, how long does it take to drive around the island?
