train from SC to Port of Miami

If i take a train the day before from SC to Miami, where would we got off at? Best way to get from the train station to a hotel? Any advice? I have never been on a train, so any advice would be deepy appriecated.

(I'll be doing about the same route in October. Have fun!) Here's the Google Map of the Miami Amtrak Station. There will be cabs waiting there, but you may want to check with your hotel to see if they have shuttle service included. There's a Hampton Inn and a Holiday Inn downtown. (The Hampton's further away, but DH prefers Hampton Inn.)

Sharon, I've always gone to Charleston to hop on the train but it looks like you can pick it up in Columbia. Did you go to the Amtrak site? The train station is in Haileah which is a ways from port.
