CruiseDirectOnline.com - any experience? insurance scam?

I just booked a Christmas cruise of three cabins with the lowest price found on CruiseDirectOnline.com. The booking form automatically added trip insurance and I could find no way to delete it. I completed the booking with a deposit but sent an immediate e-mail and letter canceling the insurance. It seemed like a scan to me since the booking process (1) never gave a final quote on the insurance before it appeared on the bill summary and (2) never gave me a chance to delete it.

 

Their phone lines don't answer and the e-mail 24 hours ago was not answered.

 

Is this a reputable company? Should I cancel the booking? I can find nothing on it on this board.

Our experience has been that you can remove it at the time of final payment - assuming that you got your own insurance - which you can - usually at a much lower rate.

 

If you belong to AAA - look into their trip insurance - usually cheaper - with much better coverage - but do it soon - especially if you have ANY health condition (to be protected from preexisting conditions) 'cause they only cover preexisting conditions if the insurance is taken out within 14 days of initial booking.
