falken Posted March 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Anyone ever used a cruise reward deposit with casinos at sea booking under the casino rate? It does not seem to be an excluded rate on the terms and conditions, did not want to pick 1 or 2 up on my next cruise and not be able to use them. Thanks. slotaddict Posted March 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I booked a future cruise while on the Pearl. I booked my Spirit cruise through casinos at sea, the room was comped, I upgraded to a balcony and they took the future cruise certificate, applied it to what i owed and I had to pay the balance. They knew I had a certificate also, I never had to show anything.
jaja Posted March 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2008 hi I am considering another NCL cruise-2009-Bermuda..already had 2 NCL cruises (so Lattitudes memeber) and played slots with Casinos at Sea card.. I have a Rewards Deposit (purchased last month on Gem) I have an upgrade postcard from NCL... NCL has just posted 2009 Bermuda cruises... Can I still book thru CAS--with above? worth my while? I assume at least 17% would be a nice discount..is that the norm for CAS card holders? If so-why don't more people book that way?????? thanks for any and all info.... slotaddict Posted March 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2008 They probably don;t book that way bc they don;t know. I didn;t know until my last cruise on the Pearl, I was invited to a cocktail party and told that I was one of top 10 players in the casino ( now thats something to be proud of). I had no idea you could even book through CAS. From now on its something that I will be doing. I was comped an inside cabin, so I paid the difference between the catagorys and the tax, the only drawback that I could see was that bc the room was comped, I had to pay the entire amount up front. I suppose if you are getting the 17% discount there is a deposit then the final payment. I'm sure someone here will clear that up.
Stillfloatin' Posted March 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2008 My next two cruises were booked through Casino Rewards. Both were comped inside, and I upgraded to balcony. I used my credit card rewards to pay the difference for the final payment.

I really can;t figure out why I had to pay the entire amount up front. It wasn;t that much so I am not complaining, I am just wondering what would happen if I had to cancel the cruise. slotaddict Posted March 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2008 I was wondering if you were booked through CAS and upgraded on your own, if you are ever offered an upsell. Seems to me that they would want to keep the CAS players happy.

I really can;t figure out why I had to pay the entire amount up front. It wasn;t that much so I am not complaining, I am just wondering what would happen if I had to cancel the cruise. The first time we got a free cruise, it came through a mailed offer that limited the ships and itineraries and had a deadline for booking and mailing. We used that on our past Star cruise, and we had to pay the upgrade in full at the time of booking. The next two cruises, we called Casino Marketing to book through them and see what they could do for us. These were both free inside cabins and we upgraded to balconies. We paid the deposit, and then, I just recently made final payments on both cruises because I had to use some rewards certificates before they expired. Hope this explains it better. jaja Posted March 20, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2008 ok-I just called them....I would get the 17% --will take Rewards deposit (that comes up automatically when I would book)--but will not take upgrade card ... now I have to call NCL --and ask for price...with Lattitudes.... wanted to check with other online sites...but no one has the May 2009 cruises for NCL Bermuda listed yet. We booked through CAS, asked what our play qualified us for, were told free inside, and then we requested an upgrade to balcony, which we had to pay the difference for. retiredonthesea Posted March 20, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 20, 2008 May I ask what qualifies you for a free inside cabin? We just booked with the 17% discount and she only went by our last cruise casino play which was not as much as our previous two cruises. ( Had GD's along) Should I call again and hope to speak with a different agent or can you suggest someone whom I should speak too. Thanks, Retiredonthesea

If you don't game as much, you won't receive the same goodies. It doesn't matter who you talk to, they'll always check your last points on your last cruise. We learned this the hard way. As for how we qualify, we average about 3 hours per day on port days and 5 hours per day on sea days on slots - a combination of quarter, fifty cent, and dollar slots, max bet. When you book through CAS, you'll have your CAS card and drink card both in your cabin when you arrive. Very handy. Ok, I'm on to Vegas for the weekend. Happy cruising everyone! retiredonthesea Posted March 20, 2008 #17 Share Posted March 20, 2008 Stillfloatin'-- Thanks for quick responds---GOOD LUCK in Vegas. We just got back from Vegas last Friday had a good time and came out ahead (for once) HA.:) I guess the extra 17% is better than nothing, but really think we should get a comp cabin. I did find E-Mail for Casinos at Sea and asked a few questions --hope to hear back in a couple of days. Thanks again, Retiredonthesea

Thanks, Retiredonthesea The girl at Casinos at Sea reluctantly checked my play. She was sort of rude and explained to me that I needed to play 4 hours a day in the casino when it was open and max bet the coin in, to qualify for a free room. I nicely asked her to check my play again, she came back apologized and told me I qualify for a free inside, if you take inside you have to pay the taxes.
