Helicopter or Plane for flightseeing?

Hi,

I am on a Landtour/cruise and for the stop in Denali, I am wondering if a helicopter ride or a plane would be better? There are a few people in the group that I am traveling with that would have to pay the weight surcharge on the helicopter, but the price is not too much of an issue. Are there advantages to a helicopter ride vs a plane? I think I read somewhere that helicopters were not allowed to land in Denali, preventing them from landing at the Ruth Amphitheatre, is this true? Also, should we book with the cruise line or find our own independent operator? Any advice would be appreciated!

I'll assume you have 2 nights at Denali Park?? Are you also going to Talkeetna??

For flightseeing McKinley a summit flight is my top choice, to go over the top of McKinley. All other flights are "summit" view. ERA runs helicopter trips at Denali, so ask them directly your landing questions.

I go with Talkeetna Aero the most, they do fly out of Denali Park and are independent. There are many more operators based out of Talkeetna.
