Polydonald Posted April 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2008 We're sailing on the Century in Northern Europe this summer. What's likely to be on the television? I would assume a news channel (CNN, BBC, Sky News?), sports (European or US?) and... what else? I remember reading that there will be a channel that shows the shore excursions ad naseum, bow camera, and ship's position. Also, if someone who was recently on board could confirm that the TV's in standard cabins DO NOT have AV hook ups it would be helpful.
kitty9 Posted April 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2008 On past cruises it's been CNN International, EuroSport and SkyNews.
CaroleSP Posted April 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2008 The TV channels (such as they are!!) seem to be the same in Europe and they are elsewhere. Hope they are having good feed days this fall, we are sailing over election time. We will be glued to the news.
Karynanne Posted April 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2008 You shouldn't have any problems with getting CNN in Europe. We didn't have much af anything in Australia or New Zealand. The TV's are set up for the Northern hemisphere, and we were in the Southern hemisphere.
Abby Ruth Posted April 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2008 We're sailing on the Century in May to Scotland and Ireland. Any chance of receiving BBC? We'd love to catch one of our favorite shows that's starting a new series that we won't get here for at least six months or more.
kitty9 Posted April 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2008 No cruise ship broadcasts any network television. You won't see ABC or BBC or CBN on a ship. The broadcast rights would be cost prohibitive to the cruise line.

We'll be so close, but evidently so far.
Longtonian Posted April 17, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2008 Really enjoyed watching Gilligan's Island on the Galaxy last year. Hadn't seen it since I was about six! Looking forward to I Love Lucy on next cruise while getting ready for dinner and sipping smuggled GnT
