Is there a store at the dock in Whittier? Would like to buy some caffeine free sodas.

There are a few gift type stores. There would be a place to get a soda, but not enough to do there to spend much time.

There's a small general store and a store in Begich Towers, but they carry only the basics. Don't count in anything more exotic than Coke, Diet Coke, Pepsi, etc.

Doesn't the ship have caffeine free drinks. I do not remember about specific kinds of pop (sodas). You could call. There are two stores in Whittier: The Harbor Store, telephone 907 472-2348 and the smaller store in Begich Towers, telephone 907 472-2648. Ms. Frankie Graham has the Begich store. If you call tell her one of Charlie Weller's nieces recommended her. Weller went to Alaska in 1936 and is a Whittier "personality."

There's the Anchor Inn Store in the middle of town. They carry just about everything.

 

Charlie Weller is no longer a Whittier resident. His relatives forced him into a home in Anchorage. As of last fall he is doing well. He took a few falls last summer and couldn't get up. He is around 92 or 93, did quite well taking care of himself until then.

Sorry. Off original topic - but only for this once. Not surprised to hear you say "(Charlies) ...relatives forced him into a home in Anchorage...." Whittier is a typical small town in Alaska or the States with its realities and unrealities, conceptions and misconceptions. Nuff said.

I'd buy them in Anc if possible, or a stop at Girdwood's Tersoro gas station. Expect $1.50 a can in Whittier at the little shops, that is if you can find the kind you want.

Try to find a convenience store in Anchorage.

 

We also found a general store in Skagway that had grocery type items.

Thanks everyone. I think the coach stops in Anchorage for lunch so maybe I can find something there.

There's 1 liquor store in Whittier. It is located in the Harbor Triangle. It is called The Outpost.
