When we stay in Fort Lauderdale we use Hotwire.com: Discount airfare, hotel reservations, car rentals, vacation packa and put in for a 4 star hotel in the Las Olas area & we get The Renaissance Hotel on 17th street. Great location & one of the hotels Princess uses, we paid $135 total for a stay in Feb. 2008. They bill your credit card right away...that's the only down side. Oh, and check the price on Hotwire several times a day as the price changes often.

We always stay at the Blue Moon Hotel. It is on the main drag A1A and one block from Ocean Drive. They have AAA rates and you can usually get a good deal. It is an older hotel, but is close to all the great cafes, shops, people watching and the beach.

Once we flew into FLL and took TriCounty shuttle to the hotel (about 45 min. ride) I may not remember the shuttle name or time exactly. Another time we flew into MIA. The taxi to the pier was about a 10-15 minute ride.

But we really like the hotel for its convenient location. There is also the electric trolley that runs a few blocks away and takes you to Lincoln Road Mall area. We had a great late dinner there one of our pre cruise nights.
