hi2you Posted May 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2008 Just wondering if there is a website where you can track a ship's course of travel-where it is at a certain time? You know, like you can track airplanes?

yst347 Posted May 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Sea Scanner is alot of fun, especially if you have google earth loaded on your pc. You can add an applet that shows the ships on the google earth globe. One thing to bear in mind though, Sea Scanner doesn't provide "real time" information. The positions reported on Sea Scanner are the scheduled positions not actual positions. The sailwx shiptrack provides actual information but the latest posted positions are often several days old. Unfortunately I know of no cruise ship equivalent to flight tracking software.
Maxax Posted May 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Okay...how do you add the applet?
yst347 Posted May 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2008 If you click on the link Nola posted for Sea Scanner you will see the link at the top of the page. Show current positions of the ships in Google Earth: (What's that?)
Maxax Posted May 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Thank You! That is pretty neat!!! Now, only if it could really show the exact, current location...and then even better yet...how about an actually picture of the ship at sea. NOW THAT would be something. And you know...someday...that will probably be a reality...just wish it was that day...now!
