1happyfam Posted May 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2008 We will be in Livorno from 8:30-7:30pm We wanted to do Florence at liesurely pace, but am now thinking this may be enough time to see some of Tuscan countryside as well? Any advice?? I'm a first time Med. traveler and want to make the most of it. So glad for these boards and all you experienced cruisers:)
Mines Posted May 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2008 There really is so much to see at this port of call. You really would not be doing Florence justice by cutting it short. Even with a full day you can't see it all. Don't forget that there is nearly two hours travelling time both there and back. The best advice is to do it the way we did. See Florence only on your first cruise and then do the countryside next year on another cruise. Nearly all of the ports on these cruises are worth repeating. Lair Bear Posted May 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2008 We joined four others (total six) and had a local tour guide take us to Pisa and Florence. Along the way to Florence he took us to a marvelous chateau in the country. We still had several hours in Florence to see the main attraction (including a late lunch at a very local restaurant in a little alley away from the toursist crowds). So, yes, you can see a little of it all and enjoy the whole day. If you are interested in some of the details, go to: http://www.*****.com/Livorno.htm BTW I included the tour guide information at the end of the web page, should you be interested.
