Question on disembarkation

Looking for some help. We are disembarking in Venice and will be traveling by train to Florence. I read the Holland site which states you should allow 2-3 hours from time on your intinerary for disembarkation. If our ship arrives (according to the itinerary) at 7 a.m.- are we okay to book a 10:45 train out of Venice? We have very limited cruise experience- on our last Carribean cruise on RCI, we seemed to recall they wanted you off the ship asap. We don't want to book the 10:45 only to sit at the train station- would much rather sleep and eat breakfast on the ship. So how long do you have to get off and are they generally on time? Thank you for your assistance!

When the disembarkation process starts usually depends on two things: Did the ship arrive in port on time and how long does it take to get her cleared by the local officials. A third one deals with how fast the crew and the dockworkers can get the luggage on shore and ready for pickup.

If everything works the way it's supposed to, they can start calling the first colors/numbers as soon as 0800. Make sure you let the Front Office know (you'll be getting a disembarkation questionaire to fill out and return to the Front Office usually after a couple of days into your cruise) what you're travel plans are and request to get off the ship in the first group (independent travellers).

Venice's train station is real close to the port so you're not talking a long time to get there. If there are no hiccups on Mr. Murphy does not make an appearance, a 10:45 train departure will work. Good luck to you!
