Ok..so I have cruised before, but need a refresher on the S&S card. If I put cash on it, do I also have to give a credit card for anything that may go over or just replenish with cash? Also, we use the S&S for casino, yes??? or how does that work? it has a seperate account that they put onto the card? I totally forget (too many fru fru drinks during my cruise...alters memories)

Hi Ellen,

If you opt to use cash on your SS, they will require a minimum deposit. I think it's 200 per person but not sure. If you run out, the card gets turned off and you need to replenish. The SS can be used to get cash from the casino window off your shipboard account but the tables/slots take bills/chips/coins. Not SS cards. As far as I know, you can contact carnival directly to set up a casino credit but that's usually for high rollers only.

You will be called to the Purser's desk to add cash to the account when it runs low. You do not need to give a CC for anything. I don't know about the casino, I always just use cash on hand for that.

But to get points for the casino, I can put money on a casino account (but using the S&S card)?

Ummm .. I'm not 100% positive about this. So, I hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong. But, I think the card you are speaking of is the Ocean Player's card. You will need to sign up for that card with the casino host and it will be separate from your S&S card. That's how you score points in the casino.

Hi Ellen! Here's what we do. We use cash in the casino and only play the slots. When you insert your S&S card into the slot machine for the first time, it will say "Hi Ellen" on the screen. You then go ahead and insert your cash and start playing, leaving your card in the slot. It keeps track of how much you've played. When you're done, if you have credits left, you can set up your "bank account". You will need to set up a pin number, and then you can transfer some or all of your credits into that account. It's soooo much easier than cashing out and lugging around a bucket of coins. If you want to go to a different machine, then you just stick your card in and move money from your account into the machine. It's all just a matter of punching a few buttons on the machine. Make sure you cash out your card at the end of the cruise if you're lucky enough to have some money left! Any of the casino hosts will be happy to help you set up your account if you have a problem.

I've never seen an actual Ocean Player's Club card. Once you're registered, you just use your S&S, and it tracks your play. I know it sounds confusing, but it's not at all. Hope this helped!:D

Just curious how they refund your cash if you do not use all that was placed on your card? Do they mail you a check several weeks after or do they refund you the cash prior to disembarkation?

Have never done it this way and curious....

now that my memory has been jarred; I believe that you can cash out anytime during cruise at the casino (your casino money, not your S&S card) up until the last night . Someone, please correct me if I am wrong.
