how late can you stay out?

novice cruiser and 1st time to bermuda,

will be there monday and tuesday on EOS,

so only 2 days in port with only one night.

can we make it a late night?

what time do you have to be back on the boat?

or should we plan on being back by the time the

transporation stops?

is there a pub or club that could entertain us

40 yr old parents without their kids types?

just be nice to experience that part of bermuda too.

since i am typing and opened up a thread,

on our 1 full day, i was thinking of going straight to the beach.

(elbow maybe to beat the horseshoe crowds) then a quick view of caves

and maybe some see glass or something or a fort.

i was thinking of going back for dinner on the ship cleaning up

and then going back out after dinner (aprox 9:30 pm)

and seeing the bermuda nightlife?

am i kidding myself?, my wife doesnt want to go back to the ship

but i think we have to get cleaned up and dressed right?

sorry if i am running on, but this is my first thread and trying to get as much info as possible,

WE LEAVE IN 4 DAYS!!!

If you're within walking distance of the ship you can stay out as late as you want...just be back before the ship sails, otherwise it depends on where you are. If you're far enough away that you need transporatation back, then whatever time the busses and ferries stop running pretty much dictates when you get back.

If you take a cab somewhere just be sure to inquire how late they are willing to make a return run. Sometimes it is difficult to get a timely cab at night.

I usually stay out until either a) my granny calls up and tells me to get my backside home or b) the police come and insist I get a ride in their very nice car with the flashing disco lights and loud stereo. The main difference between the two is when I go to Granny's house, the hot sauce is on the food, but when the cops give me a ride, the hot sauce always ends up in my eyes.

The poor OP is probably thinking if there are more people like you on the island, there's no way they'll stay out late.:D

You must be slipping...you didn't recommend any pubs or nightlife.:p

hey whats an "OP"??

and a suggestion would be appreciated.

I for one do not want the rum swizzle at the "swizzle inn"

I'll sample the rum swizzle at another place,

(is there a good pub walkable from the ship?)

I like to buck conformity, I'm a rebel!

But I hope i dont end up like BDAGUY

I don't think anyone CAN or would WANT to end up like bdaguy.:D :D :D

oh, i thought it was a reference to a not bermudan or new visitor or something.

(which i am)

I have nothing against the swizzle inn, I dont know enough to have an opinion,

except that i like to go the opposite way from the crowds when I can.

Should i go there?

those suggestions are appreciated, and sound good.

I will be on the Explorer of the Seas, and will be at

the "dockyard" (aka Kingswarf?)

on Monday morning till tuesday eve. (6/2 and 6/3)

If bdaguy would show up, as a Bermudian can give the best recommendation.:)

In Dockyard I really like F&O. Good people and good beer. They have outdoor seating so you can people-watch . I also like Hammerheads, I feel like I'm in another country when I'm there. In St Georges my favourite would be Tavern by the Sea, the pub/restaurant formerly known as Wharf Tavern. I don't get down that way too much nowadays.

As for me ......."I want to go to the Swizzle Inn", for the rum swizzle............ Is it worth it?

I read about it a while ago and now want to go there....should I make the trip??????--we are on the NCL Dawn sailing this Sunday.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated......thanks

Rum Swizzles are good, but I think the Swizzle Inn is overrated. The Frog & Onion makes a nice Dark n' Stormy. I also took bdaguy's advice and tried a "Black & Coke," but the cola really took away from the Gosling Black Seal's awesome flavor. I will say it was the best rum & coke I've had, but I like the Dark n' Stormy better.

To the OP, we saw people coming back on board the Explorer about 2:00 am while we were docked at Kings Wharf. I should say we heard them, since our balcony door was open and we had already turned in. It was worth getting up and watching though. ;)

and i feel the need to update.

Bermuda is great.

snorkeling is my new favorite activity.

but the info on the "frog and the onion"

was right on.

great bar, great people, great beer.

I wish the wife and me had more energy and no so sunburned

after a great day of snorkeling (Mon),

we managed to stay for a few hours but had to retire around

12, but it looked like it could have gotten more interesting after that.

thanks again for the great info.

cruise was o.k. but Bermuda is awesome.

Looks like another one has suffered love at first sight.:D

Where did you snorkel? A good dose of sunscreen applied an hour or so before will definitely help.

Next time you need to go on a 7 day cruise so you have more time there. If you're not a total one cruise line person, there is another line that does 7 days. For us the cruising is nice but we look at it as a reasonable way to get to Bermuda...destination far more important than the cruise.:)

exactly,

did do the sunscreen, multiple times, i guess the snorkeling wiped it off.

first day we snorkeled at elbow, then near Jobsons.

both were great.

swam with parrot fish i think?

found a gar fish at elbow and many white fish plus others i cant even describe.

yes that seven day trip sounds great, and no i am not devoted to RCL

great line but Norwegian is fine too.

could have went 7 days for the same price as rcl.

but you are right, cruising is an affordable way to access that very expensive island paradise.
