We are looking at doing Athens on our own. How easy/difiicult is it to get from the ship to the metro and then to the Acropolis? We want to avoid the ship tours if possible. There are 14 of us-including 6 teenagers and we all can walk just fine. thank you!

It takes approx 1/2 hour to walk from the ship to the Metro. Turn left once you leave the port area (the port will be on your left as you walk). Keep walking until you come to the elevated crosswalk that takes you over the street, and it brings you right to entrance of the Metro.

 

We plan on doing this very walk in September. I understand it is very easy to do, but walking in the intense heat is the main problem.

We did this 5 years ago. Very Easy. 15-30 minute walk from ship to metro. Busy area, so it was safe.

 

The cost of the train 5 years ago was less than $1 each way.

 

Once you get off for the Acropolis you have a 15 minute walk up hill. Go early becuase it gets hot.

 

When you are done with the Acropolis walk back down the hill and you are near other sites and places to eat.

We did this about 2 weeks ago....The metro was easy as could be. No problem at all! :)
