I've been on both the Explorer and the Navigator the last two years. The ships are nearly identical, differences are very small. Navigator does have Vintages a wine bar which is very nice. Lots of wine tasting classes. In the end make your choice between Voyager class ships based on the itinerary you like. You won't go wrong, all are great ships.

3/03 Explorer Of The Seas
3/04 Navigator Of The Seas

I have done both Explorer and Voyager. I would also pick based on itinerary. The ships are so similar it doesn't really matter. I hope this helps!

Century 11/1997
Explorer of the Seas 8/24/02
Majesty of the Seas 2/17/03
Voyager of the Seas 2/22/04

We have a NEWER IS BETTER rule, but I agree with previous posters that I would base you choice on which ports interest you.

Also.....embarkation & debarkation....IMO, Port Canaveral is MUCH nicer than Miami, and the Orlando airport is also much nicer than Miami!

Can't go wrong with any of them!

Which Voyager-class Ship...?

I'll jump in and agree with what has been said. We've been on Explorer, Adventure and Voyager. There are only subtle differences between them. The itinerary should guide you. After that, I agree with the "newness" rule - go with the newer ship. With that said, we were not disappointed with Voyager this past January in terms of its condition (the oldest voyager-class ship in the fleet).

Happy cruising...

V.O.S.!

Thanks so much for all your responses! The itineraries on two are identical and the other two have one port different!

If any of you had to make a guess what would think the average age was on your Voyager class cruise what would you say?

Thanks again....kenzi

Here are the approximate launch dates of the Voyager class ships:

Voyager - Nov. 1999
Explorer - Oct. 2000
Adventure - Nov. 2001
Navigator - Dec. 2002
Mariner - Nov. 2003

Hope this helps!

You will find a real mix in ages on Voyager class ships. I would say average age of adults would be around 40 something. Lots of kids during school breaks.

Explorer of the Seas ~ 10/02
Majesty of the Seas ~ 1/03
Majesty of the Seas ~ 8/11/03
Navigator of the Seas ~ 10/11/03
Serenade of the Seas ~ 1/31/04

Kenzi - Sorry, you were asking about passenger age.....I thought we were still talking about the age of the ships.....ooops!

January is a good time to avoid lots of kids. Other than that you will find a real mix of ages.....I'd say most in their 30's...40's. But, with your own little group, you will have fun regardless!

We just booked the Adventure for January / 05, and are very excited!
