Back from Enchantment 6/14

Recommended Posts

We had a wonderful time. There were 24 in our group ranging in age from 6 to 76 and all had a great time. I will try to sum it up here.

My family (4 of us ages 46, 44, 14 and 6) stayed in cabin 2593 - inside room. The room as small but functional. My biggest problem with the room was the shower. It was small and the curtain did not stop water from getting all over the floor. The beds were very comfortable. I am glad I brought a night light as it was very dark without one.

My boys loved the pools and the hot tubs. We all found the food to be very good. I only wish they had more variety at the Windjammer (it was the same menu every day). The tea in the afternoon was a nice break (3-5) and the scones were excellent. Lunch in the My Fair Lady dining room was a nice change from the Windjammer. Dinners were very good. My boys both loved the escargot :)

There were lots of things to do on board. My youngest did the kids club for 1 hour and that was all he could take. Many kids seemed to enjoy it, but he much preferred the pools. My older son enjoyed the trampoline and I had fun on the rock wall (got up 2 of the 3 walls, that darn last one got the best of me...lol).

We went to one show - the Motown one. It was very good. Had fun at the casino and enjoyed several of the bar lounges with some of the other members of our group.

Excursions - Grand Cayman. Did the stingrays, snorkeling and an island tour including Hell, the turtle farm and a stop at 7 mile beach for lunch. Great day. The snorkeling there was unbelievable. I would highly recommend doing that and the stingrays. My husband and older son did wave runners to the stingrays and rum point. They loved it.

Cozumel. Hired a van and driver for the day. Went to the ruins (really nice, lots of walking and hot so if you go bring water). Also went to the tequilla factory which was more fun the I would have thought, and a nice beach club with snorkeling (not near as nice as grand cayman). We also drove around the island making a few stops. It was nice to see it all.

The days on the boat were good. Although the pool was crowded at times, it never seemed as bad as one would think. There were plenty of areas on the ship to get away from it all. Deck 5 is a dream if you want some alone time.

Thanks for your recent review. We sail the Enchantment on Friday. We are so looking forward to it! It will be our first time in an inside cabin. I appreciate the tip about the night light. Yeah! I can't wait!

I sailed on Enchantment Oct.26'07, 9 of us in 4 balcony jr suites on my 1st five night cruise (too short I might add!). Had a fantastic cruise inspite of the weather. We hit the last hurricane of the season and did not make it to Ocho Rios. Capt. turned the ship around and took us to Key West. Spent the morning in town (took the conch train guided tour & walked around the shops for a bit), went back to ship for lunch, and back out touring until about an hr before departure. A small wait to get back on board, but not bad. We were going to the Bahamas next but the hurricane turned & headed that way, so the Capt. took us to Cozumel instead. By the time NCL ship left the dock slip and we could take its place, we just went to the shops right there next to Senior Frogs, as it was getting dark & started to rain. Went back to the ship and joined up w/ most of those in our party. I was with a great group of family & friends, and couldn't have cared less if we ever hit land! We made the best of things and still enjoyed ourselves. (the capt certainly did his best to make up to guests for something which he could not help...mother nature). We did a pre-night in Ft. Lauderdale, had great accomodations, pre-boarded on line, so we were on board ship in no time and having lunch at the WindJammer before we knew it. Baggage was at our doors within an hour and everyone on board was warm and friendly. Our cabin girl saw to it that we never wanted for anything, she was more than personable & accomodating, esp since she knew it was my mom & sisters 1st cruise. Dining in the My Fair Lady every night was a pleasure! Our wait staff & head waiter were warm, friendly and made our trip memorable. I saw very few people going casual at night in the dining room and 95% of the people were dressed up on formal night. I never saw anyone but 1 time wear shorts to dinner. We were never told we could go casual and wear shorts in the DR at night. We were traveling on Halloween so most of us brought costumes and went to dinner dressed up. The head waiter made us get in the conga line and dance around the dining room with the waitstaff! We continued on to the costume parade and dance party where bingo was normally held. The only real bummer on the trip were the 2 duds they stuck at our table! UGH. They did nothing but complain each night about how bad the food was, yet ordered 3-5 dinners & apps each every night they came to the dining room! The 9 of us traveling together had excellent food and service each night, and could not have asked for better!!! No bad dirty water in our suites, or problems at muster. I will agree with some that at times it was hard to find lounge chairs by the pool areas during peak hours, other than that I have to say we had no complaints. The shows were entertaining, we had fun in the casino and lounges. Every night I put out a request for coffee, fruit, danish etc to have in our stateroom before meeting up with the rest of our group for breakfast. Each morning someone from room service called to ask if we wanted to add anything to our menu and that someone would deliver our order within minutes. My mom sure loved that service every morning, lol. It was my 4th cruise, 3rd with RCCL. (won't sail w/ anyone else!) Each cruise I have been on has always been with a balcony, so I cannot comment on inside cabins. Just that I got spoiled from the start and now do not want to do anything less lol. I sailed on Disney once, and hated it. The food and service were not very good and other than enjoying Castaway Cay, which was the highlight of the trip, thought the cruise stunk! So, I have no interest in trying other cruise lines. I have enjoyed each cruise with Royal Caribbean. We just booked yesterday for Liberty of the Seas Oct. '09, for a 8 nite Eastern Caribbean cruise, and eyeing Oasis for the one after! Can't wait!! Happy cruising ya'll! :)

I have sailed on:

Grandeur of the Seas '98

Disney Magic '99

Voyager of the seas '99

Enchantment of the Seas '07
