hrtbreaker Posted July 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2008 I just returned from a Mediterranean cruise on O. Why are they so stingy with the tenders? It's obnoxious that they only have tenders every 30 minutes. They have enough boats hoisted to the side of the ship so I don't buy not having enough boats for more frequent tenders. I never had to wait 30 mins for a tender on some of the other lines.
Rare LHT28 Posted July 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Usually they only lower 2-3 tenders (orange tops) the other boats you see are life boats & you only want to see those in the water if the ship is sinking!:D
nparmelee Posted July 18, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2008 Which port were you in? Our last O cruise when we tendered it was just 10-15 minutes between tenders going into port, at least during the prime time for leaving the ship. As it was more or less crowded the time between tenders seemed to adjust as needed. This made sense to us at the time, why send an almost empty tender rather than wait a few minutes to get more pax loaded. More details would be helpful. sacway Posted July 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2008 we are just back from Insignia Barcelona to Rome. We tendered into Saint Tropez, Sorrento, Portofino, and Amalfi. In all ports, the first tenders went to excursions, then they were sent at approximately 30 minute intervals all day.
digby Posted July 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2008 I'm sure the current cost of fuel has something to do with not wanting to waste it.
