Bird Rock Beach

Does anyone know anything about this beach? Is it a public beach or must one go on an excursion to go to it? Is it worth the trip? I have found mixed reviews and very vague ones at that with my google search. My friend wants to go snorkeling there and was looking at an excursion there but apparently it is very close by so thinking it would be just as easy and cheaper to take a cab.

All beaches on St Kitts are public. Bird Rock would be a short taxi ride from the pier about 10 minutes or less.
