misguidedangel Posted July 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2008 NO!!! Call you TA and ask for a Deck 6 Cat 8A cabin. Those are the cheapest balcony cabins available......balconies are wonderful.....
MikeM711 Posted July 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2008 It's about 100 screws to do it, but I wouldn't recommend it.
farmboy2u Posted July 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2008 If you could, it would be called an Ocean Floor View room.;)
Leo Jay Posted July 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2008 When you see how much sea spray ends up on your window every day, you'll understand why they can't open.
RatherBFishin Posted July 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2008 When you see how much sea spray ends up on your window every day, you'll understand why they can't open. For the record, my first cruise was on Premier (aka The Big Red Boat) back in the 1980's. We had an Ocean View cabin with an honest to goodness "Porthole" window. It had a big brass latch that I managed to open. I distinctly remember two things from sticking me head out the porthole: 1) I saw someone way down the other end of the ship doing the exact same thing. We actually waved to each other! LOL :) 2) Almost immediately there was a loud angry voice from up on deck yelling down at me to shut the porthole. It was very clearly a big no-no. But to the OP... No. Modern ships don't have those any more.
Blackchips Ahoy Posted July 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2008 I suppose you could open them with a screwdriver like the OP said. I wouldn't reccomend it though. If you're ever sitting there looking out the window and a wave crashes over it, you'll be thankful that they can't be opened. Get a balcony cabin. It's worth every penny.:)
