Any good tips or suggestions to and from the cruise ship on places to see or places to go to in Nassau for the day with an 8 year old granddaughter and 3 seasoned (elder travelers) and 2 not so seasoned travelers? On the Sensation Oct 5th. Also any suggestions for a day tour in Port Canaveral with transportation back to airport in Orlando. Thanks:)

I'd recommend the Ardastra Zoo. (just a short drive east of the port)

It is a small zoo, compared to US zoos.

But it is a different experience as they let the famous flamingos (from their trained falmingo show) just wander throughout the park between shows.

I personally had a blast feeding the Lorry Parrots.

You stand in a large cage full of these small parrots.

You hold out small pieces of fruit and the parrots will land on you and eat from your hands.

Very cool.

My Wife and I always do a walking tour of Nassau to see some of our favorite sites. The Queens Staircase, Fort Fincastle, Parliament House, etc..)

Not a strenuous walk, but not sure how mobile your group is.

Here is a link with photos from the various sites on the walking tour.

The majority of sites are within a few blocks of the cruise terminal.

Personally, our least favorite parts of Nassau is the shopping district right off the cruise ship and the famous Straw Market, which are all overcrowded.

Once you get just a block from the terminal area, Nassau is a great place to experience, with very nice people.

Hope this helps.

Bill

You can buy a day pass at the Atlantis and have access to the pools, aquarium (which was pretty good) etc.

Try the port of call section for Nassau.

Rent a car,See the space center for PC and drive to Orlando.
