Wine Packages

We have tried to get information about the wine packages for our December sailing. We went through our TA and she had to make 8 phone calls before MSC came through with some information.

We thought that we could request this information from MSC but they referred us back to the TA,who had only prices and not descriptions of the wines.

Does anyone have information on the wines being offered in these packages?

MSC seems to have forgotten that Americans from the USA enjoy wine with their meals.

Check out the MSC Roll call for the Feb 27 or 28 ? sailing of the Orchestra...by memory there is a link regarding Wine and drink menu's...seemed VERY reasonable...a glass of the house wine was $3.50 and the comments I recived was that it was enjoyable.

from the Musica in June, this was a European trip, so in Euros, but may give you an idea:

 

Wine packages available -

 

Classic - 4 wine (2 white, 2 red, I think) + 7 mineral water = E79

Superior - 7 wine (3w, 3r, 1rose) + 7 mineral = E129

Prestige - 5 wine (2w, 2r,1 rose) + 7 mw = E 139

You can buy the packages at embarkation or any time during your trip.

It's not just US citizens that enjoy wine with their meals, so it's not so much rthat MSC forget but rather that you cant purchase them in advance and they normally provide all the details (including the actual wines themselves at embarkation which is the earliest point you can buy the package. You can also buy them later on, onboard.

 

The prices already quoted by other posters, fit in with what i've experienced over the past 3 years.

 

the choice is fairly wide if you are ordering from the wine list directly. I can personally recommend the Amarone di valpocella as a special treat from their premium list - it is amazing. Howevr you dont have to pay $100 to get a good wine - the Italian house white and red are perfectly fine too, as are all the others in between. there is another advantage to the house wine over bottles - you can get it by the glass or by carafe and it tends to arrive quicker as they have it in the dining room itself, whereas they seem to keep the bottles somewhere else and it takes them a wee bit longer to retrieve them from whereever it is they store them!
