With that amount of time I would suggest looking at a tour out of Auckland,to either The Bay of Islands and have an overnight there,or a full day trip to Rotorua.

Do you want to rent a car or use a tour company?

Heres a link to one tour co that does day,and 2-5 day tours to give you an idea.........

There are more if do a google search.

We had friends on a cruise last year who stayed 1 night in Auckland, then rented a car and drove to the BOI ,and on return overnighted in Auckland as the plane left very early in the morning.

It depends on what you’re interested in, you could:

* Go up Auckland's Sky Tower (you can even jump off it, if you’re keen!!)

* Go to Auckland Museum

* Go up one Tree hill, which is one of Auckland 49 dead volcanoes (or what I like to call it no tree hill :p, you will see what I mean when you get here ;)) or go up Mt Eden

* Go to Kelly Tarltons under water world / Antarctic Encounter.

* Go to Auckland Zoo

* Go to MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology)

* Go to National Maritime Museum (which is next to where you get off your ship at Princes Wharf)

Just an idea of thing you could do here in Auckland.

thanks for the responses.

since we are ending our cruise in auckland we will have already been to rotorua.

given arrival and departure times we are thinking of trying to do a half day tour north of auckland on day 1, a full day tour on day 2 and day 3 at our leisure explore auckland. following 1 of the links provided we are thinking of doing the full day tour to coromandel taking the ferry across. any advise about the 360discovery tour would be appreciated. also any advise as to half day tour to karakare would also be appreciated. thanks in advance.
