stevedonna Posted October 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Hi guys Cruise newbies booked on Pacific Sun 15/11/08 to Noumea, Lifou and Vila. This may seem like a dumb question, but being first time cruisers I guess we qualify for dumb questions..LOL..I was wondering if the pursor on board does currency exchange for the shore trips..or do we need to get some before we leave..I cant seem to find the answer in all the stuff I have read..and given some of you have done this before, perhaps someone could advise the best way of doing this. Only a few weeks to go..yippee..very much looking to the cruise and meeting new people and enjoying the company and experience of the cruise folks Cheers Steve
karmac Posted October 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Yes, Steve, you will be able to buy some XPF (French Pacific Francs) at the pursers desk for your time in Noumea. Vila you can use Aussie dollars. There's not much to spend money on in Lifou. There is a small market but I can't remember if they took AUD or not as we didn't but anything there. Too expensive:) . You will be able to use any XPF you have left though. Hope you have a wonderful cruise. You'll be addicted by the end of it:D Don't worry about the "dumb" questions. We all ask them;) Ask anything you like, someone will be able to answer.

aussie57 Posted October 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2008 Hi We were in Lifou last week. You can only buy trinkets, sarongs, hats, craft-type jewellery, postcards etc 7 food & drink at the markets. they take $A. They also give massages & braid hair, & you can take a short bus tour to the nearest village but you can pay for all this in aussie dollars as well. Hope you enjoy your trip
