Checkmate1955 Posted October 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2008 I booked a cruise 6 weeks ago for 2009... I found out recently that I am eligble for the Military Appreciation Discount but I have not contacted NCL to process the necessary paper work .. in my case .. my DD 214 .. discharge papers from the Air Force... Today, I was reading my booking information that I received by email... It states that the Military Appreciation documentation must be submitted withing 7 days of booking.. I have just today located my DD214... Is it too late to apply? it is 7 months to my cruise...
sweethrt7985 Posted October 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2008 You should be ok. We booked ours in June and didn't realize they had a military discount until Aug/September. Called them up and they gave it to us and just told us to get the paperwork turned in ASAP. (we sail in Dec)
OceanDreaming2 Posted October 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2008 Did you buy into Veterans Advantage or use a military ID card for the discount?
raudacruise Posted October 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2008 Is this for anyone or just recently discharged? We are both vets honorably discharged in 1979. I also did NG stint until 82. Heck, even got points for being in the RR and got a discharge from that as well after 25 years ;).
chrisbd1 Posted October 23, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2008 The discount applies to active, retired, honorably discharged and spouses of active duty military personnel, US and Canadian. I see nothing on the form that indicates a time limit.
sweethrt7985 Posted October 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2008 We just had to fill out that form mentioned above. I've told my hun to make sure he brings his ID just in case tho.
raudacruise Posted October 23, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2008 Well, we both have copies of our DD214s. But we sail in less than 6 weeks. Probably too late. It will be our first time on NCL (after about a dozen cruises on other lines). And guess what..cruising is better than working ;).
cadmille Posted October 23, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2008 For me I found out about the discount right before I booked, but I couldn't find my DD-214 so I had to send away for a new one, it took a couple of weeks to get it and then I called my PCC and faxed it to her. received a very nice discount, thank you NCL. S&S Cruisers 1983 Posted October 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted October 23, 2008 Well, we both have copies of our DD214s. But we sail in less than 6 weeks. Probably too late. It will be our first time on NCL (after about a dozen cruises on other lines). And guess what..cruising is better than working ;). Try anyway!!! We sail in 3 weeks and booked 1 year ago. I just asked about the discount this week and got it. Since final payment has been made, they said they would credit my charge card. We also got it for the cruise that we booked last September for next year.
OceanDreaming2 Posted October 23, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 23, 2008 I have my late husband's DD214 and receive DIC. Do I qualify?
S&S Cruisers 1983 Posted October 23, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 23, 2008 I have my late husband's DD214 and receive DIC. Do I qualify? The form they send asks if you are a widow (of retired), so I would try.
Suni99 Posted October 23, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 23, 2008 yes widows should qualify, any of you that have not sent in your papers, give them a call, you deserve the discount, take advantage of it, i know we do, a couple hundred bucks is worth the phone call:D
