AOS 1/4/09.. Aruba/Curacao/st. maarten/st.thomas..Snorkeling?

Which one of these Islands has the best snorkeling?

We had great snorkeling in Aruba and St. Thomas. I heard Curacao was pretty good too

from some people on AOS with us (March 2008).

Curacao,

 

Go snorkeling with Curacao Actief. They go to the tugboat and another place that has great snorkeling.

 

St. Thomas has many good places. We went to Sapphire Beach. Great Beach very good snorkeling right off shore.

 

Coki beach and Secret Harbor are supposed to be good as well. If you want to go to St. John, Cinnamon Bay and Waterlemon Cay are excellent. A bit tougher to get to though, and a challenge from a timing perspective.

 

I snorkeled in Aruba as well. I was not impressed with Aruba.

Curacao, I would also reccomnd Curacao Actief.

 

St Thomas, We did a private day sail and had excellant snorkeling in by St. John.

I agree with the recommendation for Curacao Actief. DW and I signed up for the half day snorkel. Turned out is was just the two of us and an excellent quide. Went to some great spots - no boat, just a short walk then swim to the spots. Intersting fish plus the sunken boat and other neat structure. The guide asked if we wanted to snorkel more or stop at some historic sights. It was a super combination of personally guided tour and great snorkeling (and we have snorkeled at many different places in Hawaii and the Carribean).

Curacao by far. I've only dived there so can't recommend any operators.

Nice beach, great for snorkeling.

They have a trail of bells.

 

In St Thomas I have to say Sapphire Beach is the best.

As far as I know, St Maarten is not good for snorkeling.
