PH Posted November 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2004 We will be in room 6142. Does anyone know what the empty space on the deck above is? It is behind the dinning room so I think it might be the kitchen. How much noise will that be in the morning?
newtocc Posted November 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2004 I've heard rumors, although no proof, that the empty space above your room is a black hole, people disappear, without explanation, it's just a rumor, but I would be afraid, very afraid! sunpsyche Posted November 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2004 I havent sailed on the Zenith, but i just checked the layout on Celebrity. That is the kitchen. What I was told was they dont label it as such because no one would book those rooms. I had a similiar room on the Century and was concerned so I moved it back under the dining room. I slept like a baby. I've heard conflicting stories about the noise factor.
EricNFran Posted November 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2004 My wife and I had a cabin directly under the main galley on RCI's empress this fall. It did get kind of noisy, especially early in the morning. I'm a heavy sleeper, so it wasn't too bad for me, but the occasional crash above did wake me. My wife sleeps more lightly, and she did have some issues with the noise. I understand that this isn't the same ship, but I imagine the construction is similar. It might also make a difference where under the galley you're located. Being under a prep station or dish washing area might be more noisy than being under an oven, for example.
