Miketap Posted January 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2009 We are starting to think about our upcoming Miami-Barcelona on Regatta. Our most recent cruise experiences have been Cunard and Crystal. OK, so we know the basics about Oceania (no fixed mealtimes/seating, country club casual etc) but perhaps someone can fill us out (the Oceania literature we have is not too specific; perhaps more will come with the tickets). Does Country Club casual mean jackets (and ties?) for men (very night/some nights)? Are some night more 'formal' than others (eg do they have Captain's welcome aboard etc when guests tend to dress up more); Do ladies ever wear long dresses? Does the Maitre d' allocate you a table each night in the Dining Room? Can one makes as many reservations as wished at Toscana/Polo Grill on boarding, or do they limit them at first to give everyone a chance? Are non-alcoholic beverages charged for or included? Thanks for any advice Mike and Janet
Rare LHT28 Posted January 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2009 Does Country Club casual mean jackets (and ties?) for men (very night/some nights)? Only if you want to no ties or jackets required Are some night more 'formal' than others (eg do they have Captain's welcome aboard etc when guests tend to dress up more); No formal nights people may dress up a bit more but not required Do ladies ever wear long dresses? Not usually but you can if you want Does the Maitre d' allocate you a table each night in the Dining Room? You will usually get a different table each night unless you request a specific one they will do they do their best to accomodate you Can one makes as many reservations as wished at Toscana/Polo Grill on boarding, or do they limit them at first to give everyone a chance? You can book your allocated number (depending on your stateroom) then you just check each day to see if space is available Are non-alcoholic beverages charged for or included? Soda & bottled water are extra Thanks for any advice Mike and Janet Enjoy the cruise Lyn
Leonid Posted January 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2009 Just completed our 4th O sailing and getting ready for our 5th next month. Never have worn a jacket and never plan to do so. This past cruise we dined with the Hotel Mgr. Wore a decent pair of slacks and a golf shirt. DW wore a casual outfit that was just right. Regarding attire, I remember a New Yorker magazine cartoon from the '50s or early '60s. It showed a lady of the night leaning against a light post. The caption read " public opinion no longer bothers me." Do not ever worry about what you wear! You will find some pax. who tend to over dress. Wear what makes you comfortable. You paid for your cruise...enjoy!
