Dream - safe to book on brand new ship?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Greece and maybe Turkey next Fall and I am trying to convince him that a great way to get there and back is fly one way to Greece, do our land travel and then take a repositioning cruise back to the USA. Many ships leaving from Rome, Barcelona, etc. However, the Dream is supposed to be completed in October, take a 12 day cruise around the Caribbean and then return, leaving on Oct 27. I might be a little worried that we'll be ready to return, only to find a month ahead of time that the ship won't be ready

Any opinions (I know my DH's opinion!).
