GOTTA CRUISE NOW Posted January 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2009 So I'm going to try to post a mini review every day from the Miracle. I'll try to answer any questions as I get them. PRE-CRUISE Friday 1/23/09 Today we arrived in Ft Lauderdale. We are staying overnight at the Hampton Inn in Plantation, Florida. It is a few miles west of the port. We chose this hotel because of the shuttle service to the port. (We drove here from PA )We can leave our vehicle here for a fee of $25 for the entire week. Not too shabby. When we checked in, we signed up for the shuttle. The 1st available was 11 AM, so we chose that time slot. Right now, I'm going to read/ take a nap... ;) I'll check in later. GOTTA CRUISE NOW Posted January 24, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted January 24, 2009 Day 1; Saturday morning 1/24/09 Good Morning, Everyone! A GORGEOUS(but cool) morning here in Ft Lauderdale! We just had our breakfast here at the Hampton Inn. It was nice. Not your normal cereal, breads & fruit. There were actually eggs & biscuits & gravy. And good coffee. I'm particular about my coffee, so take that as you will... It's a very nice area. Within walking distance of many stores & restaurants. We ate at Chili's last night. Ordered takeout and brought it back to the room. YUM! I too am looking forward to your posts. My wife and I are getting on the Miracle 2/1/09...the day you get off. The price for us including taxes was $218. Added onto that is the $25 fee for parking for the entire week. I think it was worth the price. It's a very nice area. twinmom38 Posted January 24, 2009 #14 Share Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Missi.. hoping you are havinga great time.. I will curious to know and perhaps you can answer as you go along... how is the internet connections? Did you bring your own laptop? We are debating on bringing ours. Thought if we can sit on the balcony and check in at home everyday, that it might be worth buying one of the internet packages, but if it takes forever to connect, you keep getting blown off.. etc... then not worthwhile.. please let us know how you are using the internet while at ssea and if there are problems / is it worthwhile to bring a laptop.. thanks !!!!! GOTTA CRUISE NOW Posted January 25, 2009 Author #20 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Good Morning from the Miracle, Everyone! It's Sunday, !/25/09 and we have our 1st "fun day at sea". I'll start by answering questions, then I'll describe the day before. Hi Missi.. hoping you are havinga great time.. Lisa Lisa, I debated bringing my laptop as well. Then I thought if nothing else we could watch dvd's in our room if we were bored or if there was nothing that interested us... it does happen sometimes! Anyway, the connection is not too bad. It IS slower than at home, mostly because we are moving and I guess we connect to different sattellites as we go. (?) I think the price is a bit steep... pay as you go is .79/ minute, 100 minutes for $50, 250 minutes for $100. (that might not be exact, but it's pretty close) Hope that helps...;)
twinmom38 Posted January 25, 2009 #21 Share Posted January 25, 2009 yes, it does help... you seem to be getting on okay and your emails delivered.. thank you for the reply.. now enjoy your cruise... good idea about the DVD's.. hadn't thought of that... I am packing SCRABBLE and my sister is bringing DOMINOES for those down times...
Foo7595 Posted January 25, 2009 #22 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Hi Missi.... a friend of mine is on this cruise....Pat, from The Villages in Fla, along with quite a big group! We had met 4 years ago on the Legend and have kept in touch on a roll call all these years. It'll be nice to check in daily to see how your cruise is going! I hope you all have smooth sailing - blue skies - and warm tropical breezes. :D

Lisa We were on the Miracle the cruise before last. There are internet hot spots in all the common areas. So depending on where your cabin is located will determine your ability to connect. We were midship Veranda deck port side. We could connect in the hallway just outside our cabin, but not in our cabin or on the balcony. There were also a lot of laptops being used in the bar outside the casino across from the sushi cart. Yes, it was worth it to bring the laptop, as we would compose our emails in our cabin, and then connect when we were ready to send.
63Corvette Posted January 25, 2009 #24 Share Posted January 25, 2009 I just got off the Miracle yesterday after an 8 day cruise to the Western Caribbean. We had a great time, and enjoyed the revised itenerary. The ship is slow with only using one of the engines (10 - 12 knots), but it got us there and back. Hope you have a good time.
