haircut4u Posted February 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Have just received word that Millenium will not be berthed at a wharf on Mar 01 next but will be anchord in stream until it's departure next day. Apparantly we will be embarking via tender. Not a good start.
aussie57 Posted February 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2009 In Sydney there is only one passenger terminal for ships the size of Millenium. Smaller ships which can fit under the Harbour Bridge can dock at Darling Harbour. Another ship must already be booked for Circular Quay. QM2 did Dock at Garden Island but that was a once off & that area can't handle the traffic congestion necessitated by disembarking passengers. Enjoy your tender rides. Sydney is the most beautiful harbour in the world!
Photogirl Posted February 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2009 A call to the Captain's Club before my wife left for the Feb 15th cruise indicated that the ship's tenders will not be used to ferry arriving and departing guests. Apparently larger vessels from a local tour or ferry company will be used.
Napi's Mom Posted February 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2009 That is really too bad, but we ended in Sydney, had 1 night on board. As we had an aft cabin...we had a spectacular view of the River, the Harbor bridge, and by a bit craning of neck,,the Opera House . It was a really treat to watch the lighted party boat, gambling boats go by, watch the ***fools that climbed the bridge in the dark, (and it was windy). We ate room service on our balcony & finshed packing, having had a long tour, and late return (7pm). Then sat and watched and listened to the guitarist up in the aft bar, until we went to bed! Was a magical ending to our cruise
Napi's Mom Posted February 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Realized I missed adding a picture of the night scene....
Karynanne Posted February 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2009 I also agree...Sydney Harbor is just spectacular! I'm sure the cruiseline will make the embarkation process as painless as possible.
